As an Associate Paralegal, Privacy at GitLab, you’ll support our global data privacy program and help ensure we handle user and customer data in a lawful, transparent, and consistent way. You’ll manage complex data subject requests and respond to government and law enforcement inquiries, collaborating closely with support engineers and the Legal, Security, and Engineering teams.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Counsel to lead commercial legal activities in the U.S. In this role, you will support complex commercial transactions, including AI SaaS customer agreements, technology licensing, and strategic partnerships, while helping the company navigate diverse legal and regulatory frameworks in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence.

As Privacy Lead, you will own our Privacy function end-to-end, from company-wide policies and training to external engagements with current and potential customers. You will serve as the designated privacy and security officer under GDPR and lead compliance initiatives for CCPA/CPRA, NY SHIELD Act, and other emerging privacy laws. The role involves internal privacy impact assessments, maintaining the company’s Record of Processing Activities, monitoring legal developments, and advising product teams on privacy-by-design.

This role is foundational to scaling Topstep responsibly and defending our hard-earned reputation. You will be responsible for building, executing, and maturing a world-class privacy program from the ground up, ensuring we satisfy global regulatory obligations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, etc.). By seamlessly integrating Privacy by Design principles into our products and operations, you will not only ensure compliance but actively enhance the security and confidence of our global community of traders.
